Description

쫓기듯 이사를 준비하게 되었고, 멀쩡하던 카메라가 고장이 났다. 고향에 두고 온 구형 카메라를 가지러 가는 길에 친구들에게 전화를 걸었다. 그들과 통화하는 동안 유행하는 노래나 기계의 수명 그리고 서로의 건강에 대해 이야기를 나누었다. 어느새 물결, 두 손으로 빨개진 볼을 감싸니까 자동차 내비게이션이 위치를 다시 검색하겠다고 말한다. 꿈에서 보았던 장소가 눈앞에 나타났다가 사라지고, 스크린의 신호를 따라 페달을 밟으면 푸른 인조잔디 위에 하얀 공이 쑥 올라온다. 텅 빈 집으로 향하다가 문득 스치는 풍경들 사이로 커다란 구멍을 내는 상상들.
자, 이제 긴긴 회전이 시작되었으니 주문을 외워보자.
“디스코 디스코 팡팡!”

My moving date was nearing, and my camera stopped working

for no apparent reason. On the way back to my hometown where my old camera was kept, I called a few friends. We talked about popular songs, the life expectancy of machines, and each other’s health. As I cover my blushed cheeks with my hands, the car navigator tells me that it is searching for my current location. Places I saw in my dress appear and disappear before my eyes, and when I step on the pedals according to the signals on the screen, a white ball suddenly appears on artificial grass. Heading back home, I imagine a giant hole in the middle of random landscapes passing by. Okay, now a long ride of spinning is about to begin, let’s recite an incantation, “Disco Disco Pang Pang!”

Bio

단편 ‹Secret Garden›(2010)으로 활동을 시작했다. 이후 ‹Golden Light›(2011), ‹PRISMA›(2013), ‹빙빙›(2016) 등의 중/단편 영화를 연출했다. 최근에는 영화와 그것에 대한 기억이 극장 안팎에서 동시에 발생하는 과정에 대해서 관심을 가지고 있다.

Im started his artistic career as a filmmaker since his short film Secret Garden(2010), then produced several short & mid-length video works such as Golden Light(2011), PRISMA(2013) which awarded at EXiS. Recently, he is interested in how cinematic experience is simultaneously associated with cinema and the cinematic space itself, and also outside of the boundaries that we define as cinema.
