제23회 서울국제실험영화페스티벌의 개막을 진심으로 축하합니다.

지난 20여 년간 서울국제실험영화페스티벌은 독창적이고 진취적인 작품들을 꾸준히 소개하며 영화예술의 새로운 지평을 열어왔습니다. 특히 상업적 흐름에 타협하지 않고 새로운 형식과 표현을 탐구해 온 노력은 우리 영화계의 다양성을 키우는 든든한 밑거름이 되었습니다. 나아가 창작과 상영을 넘어 제작 지원, 교육, 담론 형성까지 아우르며 실험영화 생태계 전반의 성장을 이끌어왔습니다. 이처럼 뜻깊은 여정을 이어오신 예술가와 관계자 여러분의 헌신에 깊은 경의를 표합니다.  

이처럼 서울국제실험영화페스티벌은 새로운 형식을 추구하는 창작자들의 든든한 동반자이자, 국내외 관객들이 자유롭게 소통하는 소중한 교류의 장이 되어주었습니다. 제23회를 맞이한 올해 페스티벌이 그간의 성과를 발판 삼아, 더욱 과감한 예술적 실험과 도전으로 도약하는 뜻깊은 축제가 되기를 기대합니다.

영화진흥위원회 역시 실험영화를 비롯한 다양한 영화 창작이 활발히 이어질 수 있도록 지원을 아끼지 않겠습니다. 이번 영화제가 창작자와 관객 모두에게 새로운 영감과 울림을 전하는 소중한 시간이 되기를 바라며, 다시 한번 제23회 서울국제실험영화페스티벌의 성공적인 개최를 진심으로 축하드립니다.

Warmest congratulations on the successful opening of the 23rd Experimental Film and Video Festival in Seoul.

Over the past two decades, the Experimental Film and Video Festival in Seoul has consistently introduced original and progressive works, playing a pivotal role in opening new horizons for cinematic art. In particular, its steadfast commitment to exploring new forms and expressions without compromising to commercial trends has served as a strong foundation for fostering diversity within our film industry. Furthermore, moving beyond mere creation and screening, the festival has driven the growth of the overall experimental film ecosystem by organically encompassing production support, education, and discourse formation. I express my deepest respect and gratitude for the dedication of the artists and organizers who have sustained this meaningful journey.

As such, the Experimental Film and Video Festival in Seoul has been a reliable partner for creators pursuing new forms, while also serving as a precious space of exchange where domestic and international audiences can freely communicate. Building upon the remarkable achievements made thus far, I look forward to this year's 23rd edition becoming a meaningful celebration that leaps forward through even more daring artistic experimentation and challenges.

The Korean Film Council will also spare no support to ensure that diverse cinematic creations, including experimental films, can continue to thrive and expand. I hope this festival will be a precious time that brings new inspiration and profound resonance to both creators and audiences alike. Once again, I sincerely congratulate you on the successful hosting of the 23rd Experimental Film and Video Festival in Seoul.
