제22회 서울국제실험영화페스티벌의 개막을 진심으로 축하합니다.

2004년 첫발을 내디딘 이래, 서울국제실험영화페스티벌은 20년 넘게 실험영화라는 독창적이고 진취적인 영화 예술의 흐름을 꾸준히 소개하며 한국영화의 다양성을 확장하는 데 중추적인 역할을 해왔습니다. 특히 창작과 상영, 교육과 담론이 유기적으로 연결되는 다채로운 프로그램을 통해 실험영화의 가치를 널리 알리고, 영화의 표현 가능성을 확장시켜 왔습니다. 이러한 노력은 영화문화의 창의성과 지속적인 성장의 기반이 되었다고 생각합니다. 실험영화를 향한 애정과 신념으로 이 자리를 지켜주신 모든 관계자 여러분께 깊은 감사의 말씀을 드립니다.

서울국제실험영화페스티벌은 새로운 시선과 형식을 추구하는 창작자에게 든든한 동반자가 되어주었고, 국내외 관객과 자유롭게 교류할 수 있는 소중한 장을 마련해 왔습니다. 22회를 맞은 올해 페스티벌이 지금까지의 성과를 바탕으로 더욱 풍성한 예술적 실험과 도전이 이어지는 계기가 되기를 기대합니다.

영화진흥위원회는 실험영화의 저변 확대와 창작 활성화를 위한 지원과 연대를 이어가며 건강한 영화 생태계를 함께 만들어가겠습니다. 창작자와 관객이 깊이 있는 교감을 나누며, 실험영화가 지닌 힘과 매력을 다시금 발견하는 시간이 되기를 바랍니다.

Warmest congratulations on the opening of the 22nd Experimental Film and Video Festival in Seoul.

Since its inaugural edition in 2004, the Experimental Film and Video Festival in Seoul has played a pivotal role in expanding the diversity of Korean cinema by consistently introducing the unique and progressive realm of experimental film for over two decades.Through a rich array of programs that organically connect creation, screening, education, and discourse, the festival has helped to widely promote the value of experimental film and broaden the expressive possibilities of cinema. I believe these efforts have laid a foundation for creativity and sustained growth in our film culture. I extend my deepest gratitude to all those who have steadfastly supported the festival with passion and dedication for experimental film.

The Experimental Film and Video Festival in Seoul has been a reliable partner for creators pursuing new perspectives and forms, while also providing a precious space for meaningful exchange with audiences both in Korea and abroad. As the festival marks its 22nd edition, I hope it will build upon its past achievements and continue to foster bold artistic experimentation and challenge.

The Korean Film Council will continue to support and stand in solidarity with the expansion and vitality of experimental filmmaking, working together to cultivate a healthy cinematic ecosystem.I hope this year’s festival will be a time for deep connection between creators and audiences, and a renewed appreciation of the power and allure of experimental cinema.
