작년부터 본격적으로 우리의 삶 속에 공격적으로 들어오기 시작한 AI.

AI 성우, 아나운서, 모델, 배우, 영화까지 이미지를 만드는데 있어서도 AI를 적극 활용하고 있는 모양새입니다.

실물 경제에 있어서도 메모리, 데이터센터, 우주 등 끝도 없이 AI는 우리의 삶을 흔듭니다. 게다가 끊이지 않는 전쟁까지 들어간 AI가 모든 것을 빨아들이고 있는 현재입니다.

AI를 멈추자고 하는 목소리는 보이지 않습니다. 또 멈춰야할 이유도 찾을 수가 없죠.

지금 우리는 어디에 서 있는 것일까요? 그리고 우리는 어디로 가고 있는 것일까요?

누구도 답을 내기 어려운 현재를 우리는 살고 있습니다.

이런 시대에 실험영화는 어떤 의미가 있을까요? 아직도 필름을 사용한다는 것은 어떤 의미일까요?

정답이란게 있기나 한가요?

누군가는 답을 찾기위해, 누군가는 자신이 느끼는 문제에 질문을 던집니다.

혹시 실험영화가 여러분들의 삶에 생각의 실마리를 줄 수 있지 않을까요? 그렇다면 참 다행이겠다 싶습니다.

올해 EXiS는 7월 23일부터 8일간 한국영상자료원, 서울영화센터, MMCA, 그리고 세검정의 작은 필름작업공간인 Space Cell에서 열립니다.

AI, which began to aggressively enter our lives last year, seems to be actively utilized in creating images as well—from AI voice actors, announcers, and models to actors and even films.

In the real economy, AI continues to shake our lives without end, across fields like memory, data centers, and space. Furthermore, with AI even reaching ongoing wars, it is currently absorbing everything in its path.

Voices calling to halt AI are nowhere to be found. Nor can we find a reason why it should be stopped. Where exactly are we standing right now? And where are we headed? We are living in a present where no one can easily provide an answer.

In an era like this, what meaning does experimental film hold? What does it mean to still use celluloid film?

Does an absolute answer even exist? Some search for answers, while others throw questions at the problems they perceive.

Could experimental film perhaps provide a clue for reflection in your life? If so, that would be a true relief.

This year, EXiS will be held for 8 days starting July 23rd at the Korean Film Archive (KOFA), Seoul Film Center, MMCA, and Space Cell—a small film workshop located in Segeomjeong.
