셀룰로이드 필름을 다루는 일은 개인의 기술이 아니라 공동의 노동으로만 지속될 수 있다. 상업 자본이 빠져나간 자리에서, 아티스트 런 필름랩은 현상과 인화, 옵티컬 프린팅 같은 물리적 공정을 함께 지켜내며 실험영화 제작의 마지막 인프라를 이어가고 있다. 올해 Lab 프로그램은 국내 유일의 아티스트 런 필름랩인 스페이스 셀에서 만들어진 작업들을 통해, 필름이라는 매체와 그것을 가능하게 하는 협업적 실천이 어떻게 서로를 지탱해왔는지 조명한다.
Working with celluloid film is not a matter of individual skill; it can only continue as collective labor. In the space left behind by commercial capital, artist-run film labs sustain the last infrastructure of experimental filmmaking - preserving together the physical processes of developing, printing, and optical printing. This year's Lab program draws on works made at Space Cell, Korea's artist-run film lab, to examine how a medium and the collaborative practices that make it possible have continued to sustain one another.
