Description

A place that was once someone’s home is collapsing. It evokes the feeling of my body giving way. What was fixed in 35mm photographs begins to move on 16mm film.

누군가의 집이었던 공간이 무너져 내린다. 무너질 것 같았던 몸의 감각을 떠올린다. 35mm 필름 속에 멈춰있던 잔해가 16mm 위에서 움직인다.

Bio
Ahhyun Seo is a filmmaker based in Seoul. She observes the city and explores the social contexts reflected in personal lives through film. Her first feature documentary, Queer My Friends, follows her close friend over seven years. Premiering at Hot Docs 2022, it was warmly received by international and domestic audiences. Collaps(  ) is a hand-printing experiment that places Seoul’s redevelopment landscapes alongside her experience of cancer. By transferring 35mm photographs of debris onto 16mm film, frame by frame, it explores a shared sense of collapse between the city and the body.

서울을 기반으로 활동하는 필름메이커. 도시를 관찰하며 개인의 삶 속에 스며 있는 사회적 맥락을 영화로 기록한다. 첫 장편영화 <퀴어 마이 프렌즈>는 친구의 커밍아웃 이후 삶을 7년에 걸쳐 기록한 사적 다큐멘터리로, 2022년 핫독스 상영을 시작으로 국내외 관객으로부터 호응을 얻었다. <무너(  )>는 서울의 재개발 풍경과 감독 자신의 투병 경험을 포개어 보는 핸드프린팅 실험이다. 35mm 필름 사진으로 기록한 잔해의 이미지를 한 프레임씩 16mm 필름으로 옮기는 수행적 방식을 통해, 도시와 몸이 공유하는 붕괴의 감각을 탐색한다.
