Description

At SAIC several teachers who were filmmakers themselves, including Deborah Stratman and Shellie Fleming, introduced me to American experimental films that I initially found difficult. After three years of culture shock and finding my way through this world, I graduated with Unfinished Symphony. Shot on Super 8, 16mm and VHS, it was my first attempt to express a personal narrative without words. My musical training naturally led me to structure the film in four movements, with the sound for each section drawn from images in the previous one.

SAIC에서 필름메이커이기도 한 데보라 스트랫먼과 셸리 플레밍 같은 많은 교수들이 내가 처음에는 이해하기 어려웠던 많은 미국 실험영화들을 소개해 주었다. 3년 동안 문화 충격과 그 세계를 조금씩 헤쳐 나간 끝에, 나는 《끝나지 않은 심포니》로 졸업했다. 수퍼8, 16mm, 그리고 VHS로 촬영된 이 작품은 언어 없이 개인적인 서사를 표현하려 했던 나의 첫 번째 시도였다. 음악을 공부했던 경험 덕분에 자연스럽게 영화를 네 개의 악장으로 구성했고, 각 악장의 사운드는 바로 앞 악장의 이미지로부터 비롯되었다.
