Description

In the valleys surrounding the Dolomite Mountains, children reimagine ancient Ladin legends while they examine bodies of water, holes, caves and passages looking for something lost or forgotten. Through a poetic choreography, the film becomes a fictional journey creating resonances between the landscape, magical thinking and Ladin – the protected old Rhaeto-Romanic language of the valleys, a puzzle unfolds as a timeless fable.

돌로미티 산맥을 둘러싼 계곡에서 아이들은 고대 라딘족의 전설을 재구성하며 물, 구멍, 동굴, 통로를 탐색하며 잃어버리거나 잊혀진 무언가를 찾아 나선다. 시적인 안무를 통해 이 영화는 가상의 여정이 되어 풍경과 마법적 사고, 그리고 계곡에 전해 내려오는 고대 라예토-로마어인 라딘어 사이에 울림을 만들며, 시대를 초월한 우화처럼 한 편의 퍼즐을 완성한다.

Bio

Eva Giolo is an artist working in film, video, and installation. Her work places particular focus on the female experience, employing experimental and documentary strategies to explore themes of intimacy, permanence and memory, along with the analysis of language and semiotics.

Her films, installations and other projects have been widely exhibited at festivals, museums and galleries internationally, including Sadie Coles HQ, Harlan Levey Project, WIELS centre for Contemporary Art, MAXXI–National Museum of 21st Century Art, BOZAR Centre for Fine Arts, Palazzo Strozzi, Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente de La Plata Buenos Aires, Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp, Kunsthalle Wien, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Kunstmuseum Den Haag, Media City Film Festival, Viennale, FIDMarseille, Courtisane Film Festiva, Cinéma du Réel and Punto de Vista among others.

Her film Flowers blooming in our throats had been nominated for The European film award and awarded the Top Prize at THIS IS SHORT 2021, a collaborative online event co-presented by the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, Vienna Short Film Festival, and other European organizations. She also received the National Award Special Mention at Lago Film Fest 2021, the jury special mention at First Crossings Festival and the Critics’s jury award at 25FPS Festival. She is the recipient of a VAF Wildcard Prize (2016), the Cedric Willemen Award (2019) and special recognition from Vordemberge – Gildewart Foundation Award (2020).

She is a laureate from HISK (2018-2020) and a former art resident at SeMA NANJI (2020), the year-long film–writing residency Conversation #4 (CVB, GSARA and Beursschouwburg), CASTRO studio program (2021), WIELS (2021), RU Unlimited New York and Fogo Island Arts (2022). Her Films are distributed by elephy and Light Cone.

에바 지올로는 영화, 비디오, 설치 작업을 하는 아티스트로, 특히 여성의 경험에 중점을 두고 언어와 기호학 분석과 함께 친밀감, 영속성, 기억을 탐구하기 위해 실험적이고 다큐멘터리적인 기법을 사용한다. 그녀의 작품은 새디 콜스 HQ, MAXXI, BOZAR, 로테르담 국제영화제 등 세계 유수의 미술관과 영화제에서 소개되었으며, 대표작 ‘우리 목구멍에 피는 꽃’은 오버하우젠 국제 단편영화제를 거쳐 디스 이즈 쇼트 유럽영화상을 비롯해 다수의 국제영화제에서 수상했다. 현재 다양한 아트 레지던시를 거치며 활발히 활동 중이이다.
