Description

Two journeys intersect anachronistically: that of an English doctor in Bolivia in the 1930s and that of the filmmaker in London in 2024. The film approaches objects as unstable fragments, remnants of broader worlds, like mirrors that only allow themselves to be glimpsed momentarily. The journey moves through the British Museum’s Americas collection, the V&A’s jewelry and photography collections, and a private Latin American art collection in London.

두 개의 여정이 시간을 넘어 교차한다. 하나는 1930년대 볼리비아에 머물던 영국인 의사의 여정이고, 다른 하나는 2024년 런던에 있는 영화감독의 여정이다. 영화는 사물을 온전하지 않은 파편, 즉 더 넓은 세계의 잔해이자 찰나의 순간에만 언뜻 자신을 드러내는 거울처럼 접근한다. 이 여정은 대영박물관의 아메리카 소장품, 빅토리아 앤 알버트 박물관(V&A)의 주얼리 및 사진 소장품, 그리고 런던의 한 개인 라틴 아메리카 미술 소장품을 가로지르며 나아간다.

Bio

Bolivia, 1993. She studied anthropology at UCB (Bolivia) and completed an MFA in Film at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on a scholarship. Currently, she delves into the spectral essence of places, objects and matter through intimate interactions and meticulous observation. She engages in this process by both revealing and concealing her presence, investigating the interstitial spaces where mediation and relationships unfold.

Her films include Nana (2016), Larama (2020), Belén (2020), Objetos Parlantes (2021), Spoils (2023), What Humans See as Blood, Jaguars See as Chicha (2023), and Puro Andar (2025), which have received national and international awards and been showcased at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Locarno, Mar del Plata, FICUNAM, Open City Documentary Festival, Jeonju, Torino, Transcinema, Frontera Sur, and others. In 2024, she was awarded an artist residency at Gasworks (England).

루시아나 데케르 오로스코는 1993년 볼리비아에서 태어났다. 볼리비아 가톨릭 대학교(UCB)에서 인류학을 공부했으며, 장학금을 받고 위스콘신 대학교 밀워키 캠퍼스에서 영화 미술 석사(MFA) 학위를 마쳤다. 현재는 친밀한 상호작용과 세밀한 관찰을 통해 장소, 사물, 그리고 물질의 유령 같은 본질을 깊이 파고드는 작업을 하고 있다. 매개와 관계가 펼쳐지는 그 사이의 공간을 탐구하기 위해, 자신의 존재를 드러내기도 하고 숨기기도 하면서 이 과정에 참여한다.

주요 연출작으로는 <나나>(2016), <라라마>(2020), <벨렌>(2020), <말하는 사물들>(2021), <전리품>(2023), <인간이 피로 보는 것을 재규어는 치차로 본다>(2023), <순수한 걸음>(2025) 등이 있다. 이 작품들로 국내외 유수의 상을 받았으며 로테르담 국제영화제, 로카르노, 마르델플라타, 피쿠남(FICUNAM), 오픈 시티 다큐멘터리 페스티벌, 전주국제영화제, 토리노, 트랜스시네마, 프론테라 수르 등에서 소개되었다. 2024년에는 영국 가스웍스(Gasworks)의 아티스트 레지던시 작가로 선정되었다.
