2021년 11월, 문을 닫게 된 인디아트홀 공과 함께, 같은 건물에 임대하고 있던 20여개의 영세 공간들 역시 터를 잃게 되었다. 공장건물의 완전철거로 비자발적 이주는 피할 수 없는 일이 되었다. 세입자들이 의지와 무관하게 진행된 젠트리피케이션을 목격하면서 예술공간 속 사건, 정동, 담론, 맥락들에 대한 진솔한 이야기들을 담아내는 일이 매우 시급한 일임을 절감하게 되었다. 유의미한 공간적 실천을 통해 이해 가능한 방식으로 공간/장소를 재배치하고, 과거에 누군가가 사용했던 곳, 무수한 신체들의 흔적, 그 기억과 감각을 되살려 부재하는 공간을 가시화 하도록 하였다. 도시를 걷는 보행자, 산책자로서 ‘걷기’라는 행위를 통해, 인디아트홀 공의 이주 흔적을 따라 양평동1가에서 문래동 1가를 걸어가며, 퍼포머의 신체를 매개로 공간과 관계맺기를 하며 의지와 정서, 참여, 애착을 생성한다.

In November 2021, along with the closure of Indie Art Hall Gong, about 20 small-scale spaces rented within the same building also lost their foothold. The complete demolition of the factory building made involuntary relocation inevitable. Witnessing gentrification that proceeded regardless of the tenants’ will, it became painfully clear that capturing honest stories about the events, emotions, discourses, and contexts within these art spaces was an urgent task. Through meaningful spatial practice, the project sought to rearrange space and place in an understandable way, reviving traces left by past users, countless bodies, and their memories and sensations to make absent spaces visible.

As pedestrians and walkers through the city, participants followed the traces of Indie Art Hall Gong’s relocation, walking from Yangpyeong-dong 1-ga to Mullae-dong 1-ga. Through the performer’s body as a medium, they engaged with the space, generating will, emotion, participation, and attachment.
