노다지 땅은 이주와 역사의 유령 같은 존재감을 탐구하는 16mm 픽션 다큐멘터리이다. 아날로그 필름으로 담아낸 이 작업은 작가의 아버지와 할아버지의 고향을 배경으로 한다. 이곳은 한때 골드러시와 돈다발 매립 스캔들로 얼룩졌던 버려진 광산 마을이다. 작품 속 오래된 갱도는 과거와 현재, 서로 다른 세대와 시간을 연결하는 '타임 포털'로 기능하며 소외와 이질감을 자아낸다.

조상의 유령, 젊은 시절의 아버지, 그리고 작가 본인이라는 세 인물은 땅에 새겨진 자원수탈과 이주의 흔적이 투영된 기묘한 사건들을 마주한다. 이러한 흔적들은 땅과 사람,그리고 기억 속에 여전히 실재하며 가시적인 형태로 남아 있다.

제목인 ‘노다지’는 “No-touch”라는 구절에서 유래한 한국 역사의 단면을 상징한다. 이는 금광이나 고유의 유산처럼, 외세나 침입자로부터 건드려지지 않기를 바랐던 지극히소중한 무언가를 의미한다.

No-da-ji Land is a 16mm fiction documentary film that explores displacement and the haunting presence of history. The analog film sets in the hometown of director’s father and grandfather. This abandoned mining village was marked by gold rushes during the Japanese occupation of Korea from 1910 to 1945 and buried-money scandals in 2010s. The old mine tunnel functions as a time portal, connecting past and present, across timelines and generations while carrying a sense of estrangement.

Three protagonists, an ancestor ghost, a younger version of her father and herself encounter mysterious incidents that echo the impacts of extraction and displacement in the land. These traces remain present and visible in the land, in people and in memory. The title No-da-ji, derived from the phrase “No-touch”, comes from Korean history and refers to something so precious that locals sought to keep it untouched by intruders and foreigners, like their gold or their own heritage.

Bio

이지 리 (Izzy Lee, b. 1996 KR)는 암스테르담과 서울을 기반으로 활동하며, 비디오, 조각, 설치 미술 등 다양한 매체를 활용하는 시각예술가이며, 암스테르담 VAV-Moving Image를 졸업했다. 그의 작업은 최근 LI-MA (2025) and the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR)(2026)에서 상영했다. Seoul International ALT Cinema & Media Arts Festival (NeMAF)(2025) 단체전과 TINC에서 개인전을 참여했다."

Izzy Lee is a multimedia artist working across video, sculpture, and installation based in Amsterdam and Seoul. Her practice centers on the “female alien” characters, a speculative figure used to navigate narratives of otherness and displacement.  The “female aliens” appear in different forms—mythical creatures, non-human, and ghosts—navigating unfamiliar spaces. Rooted in feminist science fiction, theories of hauntology, her work approaches displacement not only as a socio-political condition but as an embodied sensory and psychological experience. Izzy Lee studied VAV-Moving Image department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam.  Her works have been presented at International Film Festival

Rotterdam (IFFR) and Punt WG (Amsterdam) in 2026, NeMAF (Seoul)  and Li-ma present (in collaboration with CBK Zuidoost) (Amsterdam) and This Is Not a Church (supported by the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture) in 2025.
