A journey through enclosed landscapes—where the microcosm mirrors and resonates with the greater macrocosm. A closed, unchanging system—echoing certain human societies that resist transformation.

폐쇄된 풍경들을 관통하는 여정. 그곳에서 소우주(microcosm)는 더 거대한 대우주(macrocosm)를 비추며 공명한다. 변화와 변혁에 저항하는 특정 인간 사회의 모습을 반영하는, 닫혀 있고 변하지 않는 시스템에 관한 이야기다.

Bio

Danaya Chulphuthiphong is a filmmaker and artist based in Bangkok. Working across still and moving images, her practice often navigates the intersection of social observation and experimental form. With a background as a documentary photographer, Chulphuthiphong articulates complex concepts through carefully selected tonal imagery, sound, and a keen focus on the materiality of the film medium.

Her latest work continues to explore the parallels between microscopic ecosystems and stagnant social structures through the rhythmic qualities of 16mm film. Her debut, Night Watch (2015), was widely recognized for its portrayal of post-coup Bangkok.

Chulphuthiphong’s works have been exhibited internationally, including at Images Festival, Toronto; International Short Film Festival Oberhausen; Singapore International Film Festival; CROSSROADS, San Francisco; and Les Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin.

다나야 출푸티퐁은 방콕을 기반으로 활동하는 영화감독이자 예술가이다. 정지 이미지와 무빙 이미지를 넘나들며 작업하는 그녀의 실천은 사회적 관찰과 실험적 형식의 교차점을 자주 탐색한다. 다큐멘터리 사진작가로서의 경험을 바탕으로, 출푸티퐁은 신중하게 선택된 톤의 이미지와 사운드, 그리고 필름 매체의 물질성에 대한 예리한 관심을 통해 복합적인 개념들을 표현한다.

그녀의 최근 작업은 16mm 필름의 리드미컬한 특성을 통해 미시적 생태계와 정체된 사회 구조 사이의 유사성을 계속해서 탐구하고 있다. 데뷔작 《Night Watch》(2015)는 쿠데타 이후의 방콕을 묘사한 작품으로 널리 주목받았다.

출푸티퐁의 작품은 토론토의 이미지스 페스티벌(Images Festival), 독일의 오버하우젠 국제단편영화제(International Short Film Festival Oberhausen), 싱가포르국제영화제(Singapore International Film Festival), 샌프란시스코의 크로스로드(CROSSROADS), 그리고 르 랑콩트르 앵테르나시오날 파리/베를린(Les Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin) 등을 포함한 국제적인 무대에서 전시·상영되어 왔다.
