Portugal 1872. The Emperor of Brazil, Pedro II, travels to the city of Porto, and stays at the Grand Hotel du Louvre, property of Maria Henriqueta de Mello Lemos e Alvelos. 

In the present day, the attempt to make a film about this episode becomes an invocation. Maria Henriqueta is with us. Memories, sounds and sensations take over the screen, and help build an emotional geography of our invisible protagonist.

This is a phantasmagoria of the senses. A good haunting.

1872년 포르투갈. 브라질의 황제 페드로 2세가 포르투 시를 방문하여 마리아 앙리케타 드 멜로 레모스 에 알벨루스가 소유한 그랑 호텔 뒤 루브르에 머문다. 현대에 이 사건을 영화로 만들려는 시도는 일종의 소환 주문이 된다. 마리아 앙리케타가 우리와 함께하는 것이다. 기억과 소리, 감각들이 화면을 채우며, 보이지 않는 주인공의 감정적 지리를 함께 만들어간다. 이것은 감각을 통한 환영, 그리고 선한 유령이 찾아오는 순간이다.

Bio

Nuno Ochôa Pimentel (b. 1992) is a filmmaker and film distributor from Portugal. He studied cinema at Escola Superior Artística do Porto and screenwriting at Royal Holloway, University of London. In 2019 he was part of the Locarno Film Festival's Industry Academy and in 2022 participated in a residency promoted by Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian and Escola das Artes - Universidade Católica Portuguesa, where he developed the short film MARIA HENRIQUETA WAS HERE. He lives in Berlin.

누노 오쇼아 피멘텔(1992년생)은 포르투갈 출신의 영화감독이자 영화 배급자로 베를린에 거주하고 있다. 포르투 예술대학에서 영화학을, 런던대학교 로열 할로웨이에서 시나리오 작법을 공부했다. 2019년 로카르노 영화제 인더스트리 아카데미에 참여했으며, 2022년에는 칼루스트 굴벤키안 재단과 포르투갈 가톨릭 대학교 예술대학이 주최한 레지던시에 참가해 본 영화 <마리아 켄리케타, 여기에 있었다>를 제작했다.
