Description 

A portrait of the Teatro Principal in Camaguey, Cuba. In making this film Konefsky thought about Conchita ( the house manager of the theatre) and how maternal and nurturing her presence in the theatre was. Thinking about this film now, the artist hopes there is a thread of empathy embedded in the film - empathy for all the many theaters around the globe that were shuttered during the world wide pandemic.

<테아트로 프린시팔>은 쿠바 카마궤이에 위치한 테아트로 프린시팔의 초상이다. 이 영화를 만드는 동안 코네프스키는 극장의 총괄 매니저인 콘치타를 떠올렸고, 극장 안에서 그녀가 보여주던 어머니 같은 보살핌과 따뜻한 존재감을 생각했다. 이제 이 작품을 돌아보며, 작가는 이 영화 안에 공감의 실마리가 깃들어 있기를 바란다. 그것은 세계적 팬데믹으로 인해 문을 닫아야 했던 전 세계 수많은 극장들을 향한 마음이다.

Bio

Bryan Konefsky is the founder and director of Experiments in Cinema international film festival and the president of Basement Films (one of the few remaining first generation micro cinemas in the United States). Konefskyʼs creative work has been supported by New Mexico Arts, The National Endowment for the Arts, The National Endowment for the Humanities, The Trust For Mutual Understanding and the Banff Centre for the Arts. Konefsky has lectured about experimental cinema and screened his own films in countries such as Russia, Serbia, Spain, Morocco, Germany, Cuba, UK, and Argentina.

브라이언 코네프스키는 국제 영화제 Experiments in Cinema의 창립자이자 감독이며, 미국에 남아 있는 몇 안 되는 1세대 마이크로 시네마 가운데 하나인 Basement Films의 대표를 맡고 있다. 그의 창작 활동은 뉴멕시코 아트(New Mexico Arts), 미국 국립예술기금(National Endowment for the Arts), 미국 국립인문기금(National Endowment for the Humanities), 상호이해신탁기금(The Trust for Mutual Understanding), 밴프 예술센터(Banff Centre for the Arts)의 지원을 받아왔다. 코네프스키는 러시아, 세르비아, 스페인, 모로코, 독일, 쿠바, 영국, 아르헨티나 등 여러 나라에서 실험영화에 관한 강연을 하고 자신의 작품을 상영해 왔다.
