Bio

Nguyễn Phương Linh lives and works in Hanoi and Saigon, Vietnam. Spanning moving images, kinetic sculptural installation and performance, Phương Linh’s work contemplates form and time. Allusions to bodily movements convey her long standing fascination with the body, its resilience and vulnerability, gentleness and violence, flesh and bone. She attempts to navigate geopolitical and cultural shifts in Vietnam by tracing ambiguous fragments of personal and collective histories, drawing inspiration from the Northern landscape and the Red River Delta architecture, crafts, and folk tales.

Phương Linh's recent notable exhibitions include the Tokyo Biennale (2025), Busan Biennale and Asian Art Biennale (2024), and the Asia Pacific Triennial (2021). She won the Han Nefkens Foundation–BACC Asian Art Award in 2017

Phương Linh Nguyễn was born and raised in Nhà Sàn Studio, located in her father’s home. In 2013, she co-founded and since then has been co-curating Nhà Sàn Collective with her close artist friends.

응우옌 프엉 린(Nguyễn Phương Linh)은 베트남 하노이와 사이공을 오가며 거주하고 활동한다. 무빙 이미지, 키네틱 조각 설치, 퍼포먼스를 아우르는 그의 작업은 형태와 시간을 사유한다. 신체적 움직임에 대한 암시는 몸, 그 회복력과 취약함, 부드러움과 폭력, 살과 뼈에 대한 그의 오랜 관심을 전달한다. 그는 개인적·집단적 역사의 모호한 파편들을 추적하고, 북부의 풍경과 홍강 삼각주의 건축, 공예, 민담에서 영감을 길어 올리며 베트남의 지정학적·문화적 변화를 헤쳐나가고자 한다.

프엉 린의 최근 주요 전시로는 도쿄 비엔날레(2025), 부산 비엔날레 및 아시아 아트 비엔날레(2024), 아시아·태평양 트리엔날레(2021) 등이 있다. 2017년에는 한 네프켄스 재단-BACC 아시아 아트 어워드를 수상했다.

프엉 린 응우옌은 아버지의 집에 위치한 냐산 스튜디오에서 태어나고 자랐다. 2013년에는 가까운 예술가 친구들과 함께 냐산 콜렉티브를 공동 설립하였으며, 이후 지금까지 공동 큐레이터로 활동하고 있다.
