A visual document of the construction of Memorial Bridge, built as part of the celebration of Bangkok’s 150th anniversary. The highlight is when the cameraman, Pao Wasuwat, climbs into a basket and is lifted by a construction crane to capture the top view of the site, an act of improvisation that testified to his cinematic ingenuity.

Chamberlain Manit Naret’s facial expressions as the camera looks unblinkingly at him speak a thousand words. Manit would later become an actor in many Thai feature films in the 1950s.
