Description

The black and white stop-motion video renders a world of angels and excrement. The artist's black pencil drawings slowly fill the white screen, imposing one on another, or being swiftly erased.

흑백 스톱모션 영상은 천사와 배설물이 공존하는 세계를 펼쳐낸다. 작가의 검은 연필 드로잉이 흰 화면을 천천히 채워나가며 서로 겹쳐지거나, 빠르게 지워진다.

Bio

Since graduating from the Vietnam University of Fine Art in 2003,  Nam has been producing a diverse body of multimedia work, which takes inspiration from his own experience coming from a working-class family, growing up in the countryside of Hưng Yên and later migrating to the capital to study painting. At times dark and heavy, at others playful and sarcastic, his work makes visible both the past and present-day social, political and historical issues of Vietnam, while highlighting the individual tales of human relationship among people of different social groups. Trần Nam is closely associated with Nhà Sàn Studio & Nhà Sàn Collective. His works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Vietnam and USA. 

2003년 베트남 국립미술대학교를 졸업한 이후, 남은 다양한 멀티미디어 작업을 이어오고 있다. 그의 작업은 노동자 계층 가정 출신으로 흥옌 시골에서 자라다 그림을 공부하기 위해 수도로 상경한 자신의 경험에서 영감을 길어 올린다. 때로는 어둡고 묵직하게, 때로는 유쾌하고 풍자적으로, 그의 작업은 베트남의 과거와 현재의 사회적, 정치적, 역사적 문제들을 가시화하는 동시에, 서로 다른 사회 집단 사이 인간관계의 개별적인 이야기들을 조명한다. 쩐 남은 냐산 스튜디오 및 냐산 콜렉티브와 긴밀하게 연결되어 있다. 그의 작품은 베트남과 미국에서 개인전 및 그룹전을 통해 전시되어 왔다.
