Description

‹delta w, composition film›은 컴포지션 필름이라는 콘셉트로 제작된 아티스트 듀오 그레이코드, 지인의 16분 40초 연주 영상이다. 눈에 보이지 않는 자연의 실재와 순환 그리고 항상성을 탐구하고자 한 작품으로, 2022년 11월 서귀포시 법환포구에서 전시를 진행한 설치 작품 ‹wave forecaset›(2022)에서 모델링 된 자연을 재료로 만들어졌다. 자연은 <wave forecaset(2022)>의 입력 1과 2라는 장치를 통해 규칙과 패턴이 없는 임의의 현상으로서 수집되어 주파수 신호로 변환되고, 이후 출력 1과 2라는 장치를 통해 원래 있던 곳으로 다시 보내지는 구조를 가진다. 영상의 연주 음악과 갖은 신호들은 출력 1과 2 장치를 통해 다시금 자연으로 돌아갔던 소리이며, 우리는 자연의 순환 속에서 안정된 삶의 방식으로 살아가는 항상성을 이야기한다.

The artist duo, GRAYCODE, jiiiiin, performs music of 16 minutes and 40 seconds (as a period of 1/1000Hz) for aspiration of modeling of nature homeostasis that wave forecast(2022). wave forecast presented outdoors in Jeju on 2022 November 17th and 18th. Via wave forecast, the artist attempts to explore homeostasis, which is the invisible nature and its reality but constantly occurring within a cycle. It tried to demonstrate nature as the following entropy, the amount of change, hence the installation headed to the outdoor called Noji. Where the seaside of Seogwipo, when the ground is the most revealed depending on the tide, GRAYCODE and jiiiiin exhibited the installation on following nature variances.
As a random phenomenon without rules and patterns, the chased signal from inputs 1 and 2 of wave forecast turns into cycle frequencies, called music, and sends them back throughout outputs 1 and 2, to where they belonged. As mentioned, the music performance, delta w, composition film, achieved and presented as a composition film. Homeostasis, that’s how we live in a stable life pattern within a cycle of nature.

그레이코드, 지인(조태복, 정진희)은 개별 전자음악 작곡가이자 아티스트 듀오이다. 공기의 진동, 소리의 음압 그리고 음악적 긴장과 이완을 작품의 언어로 활용하여 비가시적이지만 실재하는 현상을 소리로 분명하게 드러내는 작품을 만든다.

As electroacoustic music composers and artist duo, Jinhee Jung (jiiiiin) and Taebok Cho (GRAYCODE) have collaborated in sound and new media. Their artistic terminology informed of air vibrations, sound pressures, and musical tensions and relaxations explore the unseen, the actual phenomena of sound.
