Description

I read in the writings of one painter that, for him, the Polish landscape seems to constantly draw our gaze to the ground, making us look not over the horizon but under our feet, at the bones buried beneath each step. The film shifts between a portrait of my eighty year old grandparents and my view on the elements and imagery of the national-Catholic narrative in the Polish landscape. The title Ashes by name is man is borrowed from a church notice board in Nowa Grobla, in Roztocze. At the centre of my explorations is the rage of hills Roztocze, while Krakow and Lviv form the boundaries of the area in which I was shooting.

한 화가의 글에서 읽었던 것에 따르면, 그에게 있어서 폴란드의 풍경은 우리의 시선을 지속적으로 땅으로 끌어내려, 수평선을 넘어서는 것이 아니라 우리의 발걸음 아래 묻혀있는 뼈들을 바라보게 만든다고 한다. 이 영화는 내 80세 조부모의 초상화와 폴란드 풍경에서 국가 - 가톨릭 서사의 요소와 이미지에 대한 나의 관점 사이를 오가며 전개된다. 제목인 ‹재의 이름은 인간›은 로스토츠체(Roztocze)의 Nowa Grobla 교회 공지 판에서 빌려왔다. 나의 탐구 중심에는 로스토츠체(Roztocze) 언덕의 분노가 있으며, 크라쿠프와 리비우가 촬영 지역의 경계를 형성한다.

Bio

Ewelina Rosinska (1987, Poland) holds an MA in Art History and is based in Germany and Portugal. Between 2013 and 2022 she studied at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin (dffb), where she was a member of Ute Aurand's Bolex Workshop. Her Films were screened at Her DOCS in Warsaw, Courtisane Festival in Gent, International Film Festival in Rotterdam IFFR, Musée de la Photographie Charleroi, First Look at Museum of Moving Image in New York or FICUNAM Cinema Festival in Mexico.

에벨리나 로신스카(Ewelina Rosinska, 1987년, 폴란드)는 미술사 석사 학위를 소지하고 독일과 포르투갈을 기반으로 활동하고 있다. 그녀는 2013년부터 2022년까지 베를린의 독일 영화 및 텔레비전 아카데미(dffb)에서 공부했으며, 우테 아우란드(Ute Aurand)의 Bolex 워크샵에 소속되었다. 그녀의 영화는 Warszawskie Spotkania Filmowe Her DOCS, Courtisane 페스티벌(Gent), 국제 영화제 로테르담 IFFR(International Film Festival Rotterdam), Musée de la Photographie Charleroi, 뉴욕 영화 박물관의 First Look, FICUNAM 시네마 페스티벌(Mexico) 등에서 상영되었다.
