연작 ‹외부 세계가 변해서›는 과거와 현재, 그 시간의 진동(Timequake)속에서 건축, 기술, 문화의 변화가 개인에게 주는 의미를 관찰한 기록들이다. 이 연작은 협업자 Igor Sevcuk과 함께 수집한 자료를 공유하면서, 독립적으로 네 편의 이야기로 제작하였다.
이 중 에피소드 4는 암스테르담 영화 박물관의 역사와 관련된 수집된 이미지와 이야기를 중심으로 제작되었다. 에피소드4에서 우리는 다양한 언어와 목소리로 관조적이지만 적극적인 자세로 영화 박물관을 둘러싼 변화에 대해 다양한 영상 언어가 가진 연대를 실험 혹은 시험하며 대화를 이어나간다. 이 작업은 그동안의 함께 해온 다중적인 언어와 정체성을 가진 기억을 사적인 이야기와 함께 실험하여 재구성한 기록들이다.

The series because the outside world has changed... considers the significance of the architectural, technological, and institutional transitions of the former Filmmuseum in Amsterdam. This series was made as four episodes in collaboration with Igor Sevcuk. With this project, we departed to trace changing technologies that are narrating, translating, and reconnecting our memories and histories together.
Episode 4 was produced with archival images and subjective stories amidst ‘timequakes’ between past and present. In this episode, we continue our conversation in regard to various changes surrounding the former Filmmuseum as an experiment in rethinking our shared footage in a trans-medial and dialogic way.

Bio

임고은은 서울과 암스테르담에서 영상 작가로 활동하고 있다. 그동안 영화를 둘러싼 시선의 주체와 객체, 과거와 현재, 진실과 허구의 변증법적인 관계를 엮어 경계를 유연하게 넘나드는 가능성을 탐구하는 작업을 해왔다. 여러 영화제와 전시를 통해 활동해 왔으며, 오버하우젠 국제 단편영화제, 서울 국제 실험영화 페스티벌, 유럽 미디어 아트페스티벌, 국립현대미술관 서울관, 아르코미술관, 옵/신 페스티벌 등에서 작품을 상영 및 전시한 바 있다. 최근에는 야생을 회복하기 위한 시적인 언어를 어떻게 찾을 수 있을지에 대해 몰두하고 있다.

Go-Eun Im is a filmmaker and visual artist who works with various media, such as analogue/digital film, photography, and found objects. In her work, she creates transitional memories with porous relationships between moving images and literature. More recently, she has focused on how to find a correlated language for bewilderment in the midst of ecological crises. Her work has been shown among others at International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, European Media Art Festival in Osnabrück, the Kunstraum Dusseldorf, South African National Gallery in Cape Town, Museum Casino Luxembourg, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul, and Ob/Scene Festival in Seoul and so on.
