Description

시선은 막을 통해 접촉한다. 시선의 방향이 중립의 경계에 놓여 있을 때, 보는 행위는 스스로를 현상한다. 배경의 물러남과 솟아남의 반복 속에서 어딘가로 이동하는 사이의 시간, 이미지는 그 경계 위에서 작동한다.

The eye contacts through the membrane. When the direction of the gaze lies at the boundary of neutrality, the act of seeing develops itself. The time between moving somewhere in the repetition of the background and rising, the image operates on its boundary.

Bio

권희수는 이미지와 신체성에 관심을 갖고 영상, 퍼포먼스를 가로지르는 작업을 만든다. 퍼포먼스전시 <코어(윈드밀, 20201)>, <섬광탄(신촌극장, 2020)>, <배경복사반사(플랫폼 엘, 2020)>을 진행했으며 영상작품을 EXIS(서울국제실험영화제, 2020), 네마프(서울국제뉴미디어페스티벌, 2019/2021),인디포럼(2021)등에서 상영했다. 이미지의 기원, 재현 이전의 행위로서 촉발되는 시선의 운동성에 질문을 던지며 발화 이전의 수행으로부터 확장되는 감각에 주목한다. 최근에는 몸의 중심점을 통해 내부를 바라보는 방식이 어떻게 사회와 새로운 관계를 맺을 수 있는지 질문을 던진다.

Heesue Kwon pays attention to image and physicality and creates works that cross video and performance. Kwon has held performance-exhibitions Core(Windmill, 2021), Flash (Theatre Sinchon, 2020), Background Radiation Reflection (Platform L, 2020), and she has shown her video works at NeMaf(Seoul International NewMedia Festival, 2019), EXIS(Experimental Film and Video Festival in Seoul, 2020), and IndieForum(2021). Posing a question on the gaze’s motility triggered as an act before representation, as the origin of image, Kwon focuses on the sense extending from performativity before utterance. Within her recent project, Kwon explores how looking inside through the body’s core can form a new relationship with society.
