Description

<섬>은 한국의 최남단, 전체를 둘러보는데 한 시간 남짓 걸리는 섬을 소재로 한다. 그 섬은 첫배가 들어온 후 분주한 관광객으로 채워짐과 마지막 배가 나간 후 극히 소수만 남는 비워짐의 대조적 환경을 보인다. 이러한 현상은 지리적일 뿐만 아니라 심리적인 섬으로서의 장소성을 강조한다.

이 영상은 그 섬 안의 몇몇 거주자의 일상생활을 조명하며 “당신은 어디에 있나요?”, “왜 당신은 여기에 있나요?” 그리고 “당신에게 대체 무슨 일이 있었나요?”라는 질문들을 던질 것이다.

Island features an island located at the southern-most point of South Korea, one small enough that it takes but an hour to traverse its circumference. On the island, there are two extremely contrasting atmospheres, from crowded hordes to hours of emptiness. This contrast emphasises its sense of place as an island, both geographically and psychologically. 

Island sheds light on the lives of some of the residents of the island, and the questions “where are you now?”, “why are you here?” and “what happened to you?” will be put to the subjects of the film, the audience, and the director herself.
