나가사키라는 가상의 달 기지를 배경으로 한 허니문은 일본 감독 아라키 유의 자포니즘과 마담 버터플라이를 기반으로 하고 있는데, 작품속에서 B.F. Pinkerton 캐릭터는 바닥에 격식을 차리고 앉는 전통적인 방식을 일컫는 일본 용어인, '세이자(正座)' 자세로 앉아 있다. 일본의 세이자 자세는 "올바른"것으로 널리 알려져 있다, 그러나 이는 메이지 시대에 일본의 문호 개방 이후에야 스며들었기 때문에, 전통적인 형식은 그저 근대적인 구상에 불과했다. 이러한 역사적인 사실에 영감받아, 아라키는 세이자를 인류의 또 다른 임의성: 별자리와 연결 짓게 된다. 그리고 우연히, 별자리(星座)는 일본어로 세이자와 동음이의어다. 

Set in a fictitious lunar base Nagasaki, HONEYMOON is the Japanese director Yu Araki’s take on Japonisme and Madame Butterfly, where B.F. Pinkerton sits in seiza (正座), which is the Japanese term used for the formal, traditional way of sitting on the floor. Although seiza-style is widely known as “proper”, it didn’t permeate until after Japan opened up to the Occident during the Meiji period, hence this traditional formality was only a modern construct. Inspired by this historical fact, Araki connects seiza with another arbitrariness of humanity: constellation, which, incidentally, is a homonym with seiza (星座) in the Japanese language.
