둠즈데이 비디오(Doomsday Video)(2020)는 현재 진행 중인 2020년에 대한 기록이자 다가오고 있는 최후의 날을 위한 지침이다. 전염병으로 인해 많은 나라의 국경이 닫히고 사회적 거리 두기를 하는 2020년 지구의 상황에서 최윤은 각기 다른 나라에 있는 여성 동료 예술가 7명에게 연락을 한다. 그리고 그들과 함께 물리적으로 만날 수 없는 조건에서 가능한 연대를 탐구한다. ‘먼 거리에서 어떻게 서로의 손을 잡을 수 있을까?’ ‘지연되고 있는 현재의 우리가 과거와 미래에서 온 이야기를 얼마나 믿을 수 있을까?’ ‘각자가 밟고 서 있는 바닥이 모여 징검다리를 만들 수 있을까?’ ‘우리의 목소리가 모여 시간이 지나도 누군가 부를 구호가 될 수 있을까?’ 이와 같은 물음들에 대한 화답으로 받은 이야기와 데이터를 3D 그래픽으로 시각화하기 위하여 킴벌리 리(Kimberly Lee)의 도움을 받는다. 킴벌리 리는 사진 측량(Photogrammetry)을 이용하여 7명이 위치한 땅을 3D로 구현하고 이들의 목소리가 함께 모일 수 있는 공간을 구축한다. 둠즈데이 비디오는 각자의 스마트폰 카메라, 웹 카메라를 사용한 느슨한 측량술을 공유하고, 텔레파시나 핸드 스파, 구전 동요 등을 이용한 원시적인 방법의 연대와 접촉을 시도한다.

‘둠즈데이(Doomsday)’는 최후 심판의 날을 뜻하며, 『둠즈데이 북(Doomsday Book)』은 페스트(흑사병)가 창궐한 중세로 시간 여행을 하는 내용을 담은 코니 윌리스(Connie Willis)의 1992년작 소설의 제목으로, 1086년에 영국을 점령한 윌리엄 1세가 토지 조사와 조세 징수를 목적으로 만들었던 토지 대장 『둠즈데이 북(Domesday book)』에서 따왔다. (3D 제작자 킴벌리 리와 협업)

Doomsday Video is a fictional archive of the on-going 2020 and an instruction for the doomsday. In the era of the pandemic, borders are shut down, social distances are inscribed in our daily lives on planet earth, Choi calls for help to seven art colleagues: all female friends, who live and work in a different part of the world. Choi and the seven explore the possibility of solidarity under the physical paralysis, interchanging the stories of doomsday. Can we hold our hands together in distance? How much can we believe the story of past and future when now/here is delayed? Can each floor we are stepping on get together and make a stepping stone bridge? Can our voices come together to be slogans that someone will sing over time? With the image data and collected stories from these questions, Kimberly Lee helps to visualize them to 3D graphics. Kimberly Lee uses photogrammetry to construct a 3D space of each seven correspondent’s standing ground as well as a common ground to gather all of their voices. Doomsday Video shares the smartphones and webcams grabbed surveying, tries the primitive ways of solidarity and contact such as telepathy, hands spa, songs handed down by oral tradition.

Doomsday stands for the last judgement. Doomsday Book is a manuscript record of the "Great Survey" of much of England completed in 1086 by order of King William the Conqueror with a purpose to determine taxes and lands; a 1992 science fiction novel by Connie Willis to time-travel in the Middle Ages, conquered by the plague.
