Description

<싱크>는 원형으로 정적 이미지들이 연쇄가 빠른 회전을 통해 움직임의 환영을 발생시키는 광학장치인 조에트로프(그리스어로 삶의 바퀴라 부르는)를 모델로 한다. 서사와 영화 전체의 애니메이션은 단 하나의 이미지로 만든 것이며, 거대한 가상의 디스크는 1초에 7400도로 회전한다. 가상의 카메라는 끊임없이 디스크를 줌아웃하며 영화의 핵심을 만들어 낸다. 모든 것의 중심에는 변하지 않는 동기화가 존재하고 있으며, 바로 그 동조(싱크)는 모든 것의 시작을 결정한다. 사운드는 이미지의 면이 기술하는 시간 스케일의 진행에 따라 반응하는 주파수의 연속적인 변조에서 발생한다.

Sync is modeled on a zoetrope ('wheel of life' in Greek), an optical device that produces the illusion of movement from a rapid circular succession of static images. The narrative and animation of the whole film are produced by one single image, a gigantic virtual disc spinning at 7400 degrees per second, which a virtual camera continuously zooms out of and which serves to encapsulate the central premise of the film, that there is an underlying unchanging synchronisation at the center of everything, sync that was decided at the beginning of everything, the Big Bang. The sound is derived from a continuous modulation of frequencies, corresponding to the progression of time scales that the image plane describes.(Lumen Prize 2014)
