<뱅 뱅>은 좌우대칭의 불규칙한 잉크 무늬를 이용하는 로르샤흐 테스트와 같은 포지티브와 네거티브를 이용한 애니메이션 실험이었다. 영화는 흑백의 이미지들이 빠른 간격으로 화면위에서 충돌하면서 잔상을 남기는 플리커 필름이었다. 화면의 한 가운데서 눈을 크게 뜨고 보는게 가장 좋았다. 난 영화 속에서 색의 환영이 발생할지, 그렇다면 다른 광학적 효과도 나타나는지 보는 것이 흥미로웠다. 때론 화면의 오른쪽 아래에서 이미지가 떠다니는 듯한 이상한 환영이 생겼지만 설명하기 힘들다. 하지만 내 생각엔 그건 무작위적으로 선택된 형태의 축적이었다. 하지만 기이한 움직임의 현상을 만들어내는 우발적 애니메이션이 되기엔 충분했다. 영화의 타악기적 특성을 증폭하기 위해 샤이 린치의 음악을 사용했다.

Bang Bang was an experiment in animating positive and negative Rorschach-like bilaterally symmetrical ink blots. It is at heart a flicker film,  where black-and-white images are smacked on the screen in rapid intervals in pursuit of afterimage effects. It is best viewed wide-eyed focusing on the center of the screen. 

I was most interested to see if illusions of color would occur, which did happen but other optical effects emerged as well. At times there is an odd illusion of the images drifting to the lower right-hand side of the screen. It is difficult to explain, however I suspect it’s the accumulation of the shapes, randomly selected, but with enough accidental animation to create this odd motion phenomena. 

The music by Shay Lynch is intended to amplify the percussive nature of the film.
