이 작품은 역사, 가족, 개인적인 정체성에 관한 작가의 예술가적 향수뿐만 아니라 확실성을 향한 지속적인 추구를 보여주고 있다. 이 작품은 이 주제에 대한 일종의 “창조적 사고"이자, 미래에 대한 상상과 관련된 예술가적 전략, 그리고 오늘날에는 다시 돌아올 수 없는 감정에 대한 모순적인 입장의 일종으로 볼 수 있다. 철학자이자 미술비평가인 보리스 그로이스가 말했듯이 “삶은 기록될 수 있지만 보여질 수는 없다.” “향수"가 진정으로 이미지 예술의 동시대적 매체가 될 수 있는 이유는 바로 이러한 모순의 복잡성 때문이다. (동 빙펑)
With Weekend, the artist and Beijing / LA resident Lei Lei not only displays artistic nostalgia, but also the constant quest for certainty regarding history, family and personal identity. His work can be seen as a type of “creative thinking” on the theme, an artistic strategy related to future imagination, and a contradictory position on emotions that cannot be returned to today. As philosopher and art critic Boris Groys pointed out: “Life can be recorded, but it can't be shown.” It is also because of the complexity of this contradiction, and the images that comprise the artist’s works that different images taken at the point of visual transformation and dialectical form between the calm and the energetic are shown, so that “nostalgia” becomes a truly contemporary medium in the practice of image art. Bio
1985년 지앙시 성 난창에서 태어난 레이 레이는 비디오 아트, 회화, 설치, 음악, VJ 퍼포먼스 등을 하는 실험 애니메이션 작가다. 2009년에 그는 칭화대학교에서 애니메이션 석사를 받았다. 그의 작품 “이것이 사랑"은 오타와 국제 애니메이션 페스티벌에서 상영되었고, 2010년 단편영화 부문 대상을 받았다. 2017년 캘리포니아 예술대학에서 실험애니에이션을 강의 했으며, 2018년 단편 및 장편 애니메이션 분야의 뉴 아카데미 회원으로 초대받았으며, 그의 첫 장편 데뷔작인 <숨 가뿐 동물들>은 베릴린날레 포럼 부분에 첫 공개되었으며 전주국제영화제 등 다수의 영화제에 상영되었다.
1985 Born in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province,  An experimental animation artist with his hands on video arts, painting, installation, music and VJ performance also. In 2009 He got a master's degree in animation from Tsinghua University. In 2010, his film This is LOVE was shown at Ottawa International Animation Festival and awarded The 2010 Best Narrative Short. In 2013 his film Recycled was the Winner Grand Prix shorts - non-narrative at Holland International Animation Film Festival.  In 2014 he is the Jury of Zagreb and Holland International Animation Film Festival. and he was the winner of the asian cultural council grant(2014). In 2017 he works in CalArts Experimental Animation program as Faculty. In 2018 he invited for New Academy Member for the Short Films and Feature Animation branch. In 2019 his first feature film Breathless Animals has been selected by Berlinale Forum.
