당신은 ‘바다’라는 단어를 들었을때 무엇을 떠올리나요? 파랑색이 무엇인가요? 당신에게 소중한 이들을 어떻게 묘사할 수 있나요? 장미와 데이지는 어떻게 구분하나요? 당신이 볼 수 없거나 더는 볼 수 없게 된다면 이 세상과 아름다움이라는 것은 당신에게 무엇이 될까? 태양의 축복을 받은 땅, 남프랑스 지중해연안의 프렌치 리비에라에 모인 이들, 이들은 대다수의 사람들과는 지각을 조금 다르게 꾸려나가는 이들이다. 이들 각자가 보는 세상, 감각적인 경험에 대한 묘사들이 서로 어우러지는 과정에서 영화는 그 안의 유보된 순간들을 미학적 물음의 장으로서 제시한다.
What does 'the sea' evoke to you? What is blue? What about describing your loved ones? How do you distinguish a rose from a daisy? What happens to the world and the beauty when we do not see or do not see anymore? On the sun blessed land facing the sea, French Riviera, people who organise their perception a bit differently from most people share their visions. As the portraits of sensory experiences intermingle, the film suggests its suspended moments as a space for aesthetic questioning.

임정혜는 1987년 한국에서 태어나 프랑스에서 활동하는 아티스트, 영화감독이다. 그녀의 작업은 페인팅과 주로 설치형태의 사운드와 비디오를 어우르나 최근 작업들은 미술과 영화사이의 점점 모호해지는 경계에 존재하는 비디오가 주를 이룬다. 그녀의 최근 다큐멘터리 실험영화 ‘장미도 아닌 데이지도 아닌’은 모나코국립현대미술관, 전주국제영화제 등에서 상영되었으며 파리 씨네마테크 프랑세즈와 리옹비엔날레 등에서의 상영도 앞두고 있다.
Jeunghae Yim is an artist filmmaker based in France. She was born in 1987, South Korea. Her work combines painting, sound and video installation while her recent projects are mostly video work which positions itself on the blurring borderline between fine art and cinema. Her latest experimental documentary film ‘Neither Roses, Nor Daisies’ was screened at the New National Museum of Monaco and Jeonju International Film Festival, among others. It’s also programmed for numerous screenings at the Cinémathèque Française Paris and Lyon Biennale in particular.
