<Blood Can Be Very Bad>라는 영문의 제목은 컴퓨터단층촬영(CT)으로 찍은 두뇌의 병리를 신속히 진단하기 위한 절차를 말하는 연상기호이기도 하다. 직접 들여다볼 수 없는 몸속이 시각적 차원에서 미지의 영역이라하면, CT촬영은 가상의 전산을 통해 내부를 외부로 여과 없이 내보이는 장치로 보인다. 작가에게 필연적으로 도착한 이 이미지는 몸과 데이터의 관계를 다시 한번 생각하게 만들었던 동시에, 이를 통해 누군가의 삶과 죽음이 관측에 의해 확정되는 가혹한 이미지로 다가온다. 영상은 여러 방식으로 재현되는 신체-이미지에 대한 매체적인 질문과 자전적인 이야기가 혼합된 흑백의 비디오 에세이다.


Blood Can Be Very Bad is a black-and-white video essay questioning the relationship of image, body and perception of materiality based on personal story. The title refers to a mnemonic for a quick diagnosis of brain pathology with CT(computerized tomography) image. If one says human inner body is like a concealed territory because it’s impossible to see without invasion, CT image appears to be a explicit method which exposes the inside-out with virtual computation. The image that inevitably arrived to the artist, is also taken as a very severe element as it determines a patience’s life and death solely through visual observation.

Bio
1990년 출생. 베를린예술대학교에서 시각예술과 학사를 취득하고 이후 한국예술종합학교에서 조형예술학과 전문사 과정을 마쳤다. 서울에서 활동 중이며, 개인전《Contrast of Yours》(개방회로, 2017), 《Have been here》(공간 291, 2016)을 열었고, 《보안이 강화되었습니다》(코리아나 미술관, 2019)와 《정글짐》(아트스페이스 풀, 2018)등 다수의 그룹전에 참여했다. 그외 서울국제실험영화페스티벌(2018), 서울국제뉴미디어페스티벌(2018), 부산국제비디오아트페스티벌(2014) 등에서 작품을 상영했다.
Born in 1990 in South Korea, EunHee Lee received BFA at Universität der Künste Berlin, and acquired MFA at Korea National University of Arts in South Korea. Currently based in Seoul, Lee held solo exhibitions at Open circuit(2017) and Space291(2016), participated multiple group exhibitions at Coreana Museum of Art(2019), Art Space Pool(2018) and others. Her video works have been also screened at EXiS 2018, Nemaf 2018, Busan International Video Art Festival 2014.
