제2차 세계대전 이래로 외국인 노동자들이 벨기에 왈롱지역 도시들의 탄광 및 공장 지대에서 일하게 되었다. 주로 이탈리아, 중동, 그리고 북아프리카에서 온 노동자들이 경험과 기술을 공유하게 되면서 지역 산업의 발전이 일어났다. 네슬러의 작품은 함선제작과 무기산업의 예를 통해 상이한 문화들의 이러한 상호작용을 보여준다. 특정 물품 생산에 대한 지리적 계획은 타국과의 교류 및 교환을 필요로 하는데, 이를 통해 경제는 사회적 삶에서 더 많은 공간을 확보하게 된다. 노동자들 사이에 교환된 기술은 생산업이 가장 현대적인 방식으로 생산을 할 수 있게 해준다. 외국인 노동자들은 왈롱 지역에서 초석, 황산, 및 각종 금속 무기를 생산했다. 외국에서 온 주조기술자들에 의해 석조 용광로가 설치되었다. 스웨덴 왕 또한 왈롱지역의 사업가들과  철도노동자들을 스웨덴으로 끌어들였다. 소총과 대포 생산은 더 이상 생산되고 있지 않다. 리에게 군수공장에서의 촬영분은 판매용으로 만들어지는 사냥용 소총이 꽃이나 동물 무늬로 마감이 된다는 사실이다. 동물을 살상하기 위한 무기가 섬세하게 수작업으로 만들어진다. 이는 1600년대와 크게 다르지 않다. 인명 살상용 무기는 기계로 만들고 기계에 의해 판매된다. Since World War II, foreigners have come to Belgium to work in the cities of the Walloon mining and industrial areas. Largely Mediterraneans from Italy, the Middle East and North Africa, their exchange of experiences and working skills saw commercial trade flourish in the region. Nestler's film documents this interplay of cultures in industry with the help of two examples: shipbuilding and weapon manufacturing. Geographical planning for the production of certain goods requires an exchange with other countries in order to leave more and more space for the unfolding economy in social life. The exchanged skills of the workers let the industries produce in the most modern way. Foreigners produced saltpetre, sulfuric acid, weapons of bronze, iron and brass in Wallonia. The masonry furnaces were set up by wandering founders. The Swedish king also attracted Walloon entrepreneurs and Walloon railroad workers to Sweden. The production of handguns and cannon was now nothing in the way. Filming in a Liège weapons factory shows the completion of hunting rifles that can be bought decorated with floral or animal patterns. Weapons to kill animals are made carefully and partly by hand. Almost like before, around 1600. Weapons for killing people are made in machines and vending machines. (Harun Farocki, 1979)
