Description

The film relocates the gaze of the Three Distances (三遠法), a traditional method of composing space in East Asian landscape painting, to the inside of the mountain. Moving from looking to entering, and from entering to touching, it records the nonhuman beings encountered on Inwang Mountain. The final exposed roll of 16mm film was buried in the soil on the mountain’s lower slopes. Through these acts of filming and burial, the film and the camera come into contact with Inwang Mountain’s vegetation, enter its networks, and attempt to become part of the mountain itself.

동양 산수화의 삼원법(三遠法)의 시선을 산의 내부로 옮긴다. 바라보기에서 들어가기, 접촉하기로 나아가며 인왕산에서 마주치는 비인간 존재들을 기록하고 필름을 산자락에 묻었다. 필름과 카메라는 인왕산의 식생들과 접촉하고 그들의 네트워크에 틈입하며 산의 일부가 되어본다.
