경쟁부문과는 달리 좀 더 자유로운 경향성을 가지고 실험영화의 틀을 다양한 면에서 비춰 줄 수 있는 작품들로 채워진다. 변화하는 실험영화 및 무빙이미지의 동시대적 경향을 반영한 기획 중심 프로그램으로, 매년 구체적인 주제 및 키워드를 중심으로 작가 및 작품을 선정한다. 기획 방향에 따라 작가, 연구자, 큐레이터 등 다양한 분야의 전문가가 참여하여 작품과 인적 교류를 도모한다. 2026년에는 두 개의 프로그램으로 구성된다. EX-Choice 1은 한국 실험영화의 스펙트럼을 확장하기 위한 한국비경쟁부문이며, EX-Choice 2는 미국 뉴멕시코의 Experiments in Cinema 영화제와의 교류 프로그램으로, EIC 대표 브라이언 코네프스키(Bryan Konefsky)가 내한하여 프로그램을 소개한다.

EX-Choice is a curated program that approaches experimental film from multiple angles, bringing together works that illuminate the form's possibilities beyond the competition framework. Reflecting the shifting currents of contemporary experimental film and moving image practice, the program is organized each year around specific themes and keywords, with artists and works selected accordingly. Depending on its curatorial direction, the program invites participation from artists, researchers, curators, and other specialists to foster exchange across both works and people. In 2026, EX-Choice comprises two programs: EX-Choice 1, a non-competition Korean program aimed at expanding the spectrum of Korean experimental film, and EX-Choice 2, an exchange program with Experiments in Cinema (EIC), based in New Mexico, USA. EIC director Bryan Konefsky will visit Korea in person to present the program.
