<컨셉션>은 생의 기원에 관한 원시적 형상을 해독하려는 미니멀리스틱한 시도로, 시네마의 진정한 본질에 더 가까이 다가서기 위해 의식적으로 불가능한 목표를 설정해 ‘퍼포먼스'적 실천을 기반으로 끊임 없이 영화적 요소를 분해하고 재조립하는 실험이며 개념(컨셉션)과, 소리, 무빙이미지의 합성이다.
Conceptión is a minimalistic perusal of a world-view based on the shattering of the primal egg - and experiments with the elements of cinema, deconstructing and reassembling distinct cinematic ingredients with the consciously impossible aim of getting closer to the true essence of cinema: a synthesis of concept, sound, and moving images.

다양한 도시들이 프리즘으로 만들어진 여러 색의 직조물로 녹아드는 일종의 여행기. 반복적으로 빛에서 어둠으로, 좁은 골목에서 고속도로를 가로지르며, 여러 곳을 여행하며 마주하는 낯선 주변환경은 멀리 그리고 공간을 찰나적으로 다가온다. 볼렉스를 들고 경련스럽게 움직이는 모습은 구경꾼들의 시선을 붙잡고, 내 목을 고통스럽게 한다. 프로젝터 사이의 확고한 안무는 대륙 사이를 휘젓고 다니며 몇 달간의 긴 여행의 시간을 단 몇 분으로 붕괴시킨다.
A lack of familiarity with these surroundings breed a distant and fleeting view of space - repeatedly navigating from light to dark; alleyway to the highway. This spastic dance with the Bolex turns the heads of onlookers and leaves my neck sore. An unwavering choreography between projectors collapses months to minutes; swiping between continents.

닻올림dotolim: 즉흥음악 연주회 Improvised music concert

‘닻올림’은 2006년 10월 진상태에 의해 설립된 회사의 이름이다. 같은해 11월 일본 투어에서 오토모 요시히데(Otomo Yoshihide, 大友良英)의 사무실 겸 공간 ‘GRID605’에서 공연할 때 좁은 공간을 공연장으로 사용할 때의 밀도와 여러 가지 장점들에 감명받아 자신의 사무실에서 즉흥음악을 중심으로 한 소규모 공연장 및 레코딩 공간을 운영할 계획을 세우게 되었으며, 공연장의 이름도 그의 회사 이름을 딴 ‘닻올림’이라 부르게 되었다. 공연장으로서의 닻올림은 2008년 2월에 첫 연주회를 시작했으며, ‘닻올림 연주회’라는 이름의 공연시리즈를 100회 넘게 진행해오고 있다.
dotolim is the name of a small business occupying a small office space, established in 2006 in Seoul by Jin Sangtae. dotolim is a very small space, with a capacity for only 20 people; this creates an intimate connection between performers and audience members. Jin Sangtae has presented concerts at dotolim nearly every month since then, over 100 concerts to date. The ‘dotolim concert series’ seeks to connect improvised music to all of the arts, and to new audiences.
