소가 잠에 들면 어느덧 익숙한 소리가 들린다.
전라남도 영광 계마항에서 배로 2시간 반 거리에 위치한 안마도(鞍馬島)는 조선시대부터 말과 깊은 인연을 맺고 있는 섬으로 세종실록지리지에는 안마도에 33필의 말을 방목한다는 기록이 있다. 오늘날에는 말 대신 300여 마리의 소들이 방목되어 살고 있고, 그들 중 일부는 상품성이 떨어진다는 이유로 육지로 판매되지 않은 채 자유롭게 무리지어 살고 있다. 안마도의 어원 중 하나는 ‘평안한 말들의 섬'이란 뜻이다.

When a cow falls asleep, a familiar sound is heard in the distance. Anma-do is a little island on the west coast of Korea where horses were traditionally pasture raised. Nowadays, approximately 300 cows live on the island, some of whom live freely because they are deemed not marketable. One of the island’s name meanings is “island of peaceful horses”.

1983년 서울 출생. 극영화로 중편 ‹백서›(2010), 단편 ‹클린 미›(2014), ‹우리는 없는 것처럼›(2016)을 연출하고 여러 편의 다큐멘터리를 촬영하기도 했다. 첫 장편은 탐사 다큐멘터리의 형식의 ‹김군›.

Born in Seoul in 1983. As fiction films, he directed the mid-length White Paper (2010), the short Clean Me (2014), and As if we don't exist (2016) and also shot several documentaries. His first feature film was Gun Kim, an investigative documentary.
