Description

New Centuries are Rare establishes a timeline from the 1900s miner strikes to the establishment of the electronic music festival in Norberg a hundred years later, when the rave scene moved into the old industrial buildings. With shots stretching from the political struggles of miners in the unions of the time to the post- industrialisation of today, Danish-Swedish artist collective coyote have created a video work shrouded in the fumes of both mining and smoke machines, illustrated by clips from the early rave parties that laid the foundations of alternative club culture in the 1990s as a place not only for hedonistic escapism, but for political activity in theory and practice. Psychological, chemical and technological rhythms resonate across the archaic topography of the place over a hundred years.

‹새로운 세기는 드물다›는 1900년대 광부 파업부터 100년 후 레이브 씬이 오래된 산업 건물로 옮겨와 노르베르그에서 일렉트로닉 음악 페스티벌이 시작될 때까지의 타임라인을 설정한다. 덴마크-스웨덴 예술가 콜렉티브 코요테(coyote)는 광산과 연기발생기에서 내뿜는 연기에 가려진 영상 작품을 만들었는데 이 작품은 광부들의 정치적 투쟁에서부터 현대의 포스트 산업화까지의 시간을 아우르며, 1990년대 대안 클럽 문화의 기반이 되는 초기 레이브 파티 클립들을 통해 이야기를 전달한다. 이곳은 오백 년 동안 심리적, 화학적, 기술적 리듬이 고풍스러운 지형에 울려 퍼지는 공간이다. 이러한 공간은 향락적인 탈출뿐만 아니라 이론과 실천을 통한 정치적 활동의 장소로 기능했다.

Bio

coyote is a multidisciplinary collective based in Stockholm since 2017. In addition to several self-produced exhibitions and projects, coyote has had a solo exhibition at NSFW/SVILOVA, Gothenburg (2021) and participated in group exhibitions and film festivals at EMAF, Osnabrück (2023), CPH:DOX, Copenhagen (2023), Norbergfestival, Norberg (2022), KØS – Museum of art in the public spaces, Køge (2021), Index – The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation, Stockholm (2020) and ISSUES gallery, Stockholm (2019). During 2022 coyote presented a temporary public artwork at Slussen commissioned by Stockholm Konst.

코요테(coyote)는 2017년부터 스톡홀름을 기반으로 한 다학제간 콜렉티브이다. 자체 제작 전시 및 프로젝트를 여러 차례 선보인 동시에, 코요테는 NSFW/SVILOVA (2021)에서 개인전을 가졌으며, EMAF (2023), CPH:DOX (2023), Norbergfestival (2022), KØS - Museum of art in the public spaces (2021), Index - The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation (2020) 및 ISSUES 갤러리 (2019)와 같은 그룹 전시회 및 영화제에 참여했다. 2022년 코요테는 스톡홀름 콘스트(Konst)에서 위임받은 슬루센(Slussen )에서 일시적인 공공 예술 작품을 선보였다.
