무언가를 보기 위해 모인 사람들의 시선이 분주하다.
이 작품은 필름 스캐너를 사용했지만 필름으로 만든 영화는 아니다. 프레임 단위로 스캔된 이미지들의 조합이다.
‹A Crowd›는 우리가 보고 있는 것에 주목하며, “Belief”, “Crossroads”, “Dinosaur” 3부작으로 구성되었다.
‹A Crowd› 3부작의 각 작품에는 각각 다른 형태의 군중 이미지와 연기(smoke) 이미지가 등장한다. Belief에 콘서트 관객과 축구 경기의 관중, 기념비적인 현장의 관중들이 있다면, Crossroads는 무수히 붐비는 거리들, Dinosaur에는 버려진 것들의 이미지들이 있다.

This film uses a film scanner, but it is not a film. It is the assembly of images scanned frame-by-frame.
The film focuses on what we see. A Crowd forms a trilogy: Belief, Crossroads, and Dinosaur.
Each work of A Crowd trilogy features different types of crowd images and smoke images. Belief has concert crowds, football audiences, and spectators at the monumental sites, etc. Crossroads captures the numberless crowded streets of cities. And Dinosaur has images of discarded materials.

Bio

주연우는 서울에서 거주하며 카메라 없이 영화를 만든다. 주로 다양한 아카이브 자료를 활용하여 이미지를 재구성한다. 그녀의 작품은 국내외 다수의 전시와 영화제에서 소개된 바 있다.

Yeonu Ju lives in Seoul and practices with cameraless filmmaking. She reconstructs images using various archival materials. Her works have been shown at museums, galleries, and festivals worldwide.
