다양한 방식으로 <조운크!>는 1920년대 한스 리히터의 기학적 움직임, 몬드리안의 색 구성과 오스카 피싱어의 추상 영화 음악을 참조하면서 다양한 방식으로 추상예술의 역사를 다룬다. 빌리 로이슈는 자신이 만든 이미지 조작 장치를 사용해, 기계의 독립적 존재와 논리를 신뢰하며 작품을 제작하고자 한다. 로이슈는 아날로그 테크닉으로 시각 재료를 생성하는데, 비디오 믹서와 변환기로 그녀는 우선 비디오 몽타주에서 디지털로 변환한다. 결과는 야만성과 부드러움의 독특한 혼합으로, 현대인에게 모닥불과 같은 이미지-사운드 예술이 된다. In a variety of ways, Zounk! plays on the history of abstract art, harboring references to Hans Richter’s geometries of motion from the 1920s, Piet Mondrian’s right-angled color compositions, and Oskar Fischinger’s abstract film music. Billy Roisz likes to produce her works using her own, homemade picture-manipulation apparatuses, trusting the logic, the independent existence of the machines. Zounk! is a good example of the charm of low-threshold aleatori: Roisz generates her visual material with analogue techniques, using video mixer and transducer—she first switches to digital in the video montage. The result is an idiosyncratic mix of brutality and tenderness: image-sound art rising like a bonfire for people with modern nerves. (Stefan Grissemann)
