이제는 노인 밖에 남지 않은 작은 마을, 여인들은 아버지에게 자신의 소원을 속삭인다. 대한민국의 군산시는 전국에서 기독교인 비율이 30퍼센트로 가장 높은 도시이다. 그 곳에 위치한 상평마을의 작은교회는 70년 전부터 일요일마다 성도들을 맞이하고 있다. 이 교회의 신도들은 대부분 장년, 노년층으로서 그 중 여성신도들은 수십년간 예배 후의 식사차림 노동을 해왔다.  매주 일요일마다 되풀이되는 이 연회는 마을 공동체와 교회가 긴 시간 살아있게 한 보이지 않는 기둥이다. 이 노년의 여성들이 신에게 간절히 빌며 소원하는 것은 과연 무엇인가. 그들의 음성을 통하여 기존의 가부장적 전통 사회와 결합된 독특한 한국 기독교의 모습을 엿본다. 또한 한국사회가 직면한 심각한 지방 소멸의 실태를 드러낸다.
In the small village of South Korea, women of advanced age secretly whisper their wishes to their Father. In Sangpyung, a village within Gunsan City in South Korea, a small church has been holding service for almost 70 years. Most of its members are women who are of advanced age who have worked in the kitchen after Sunday service for many years, preparing lunch. In Sangpyung, this weekly feast has been central to maintaining a sense of community. What are these women’s wishes and what do they pray to their God? Through their voices, this piece observes the unique personality of Korean Christianity, combined with the local patriarchal society and overall nationalism. Moreover, it documents the severe phenomenon of rural depopulation, which South Korea is now being faced with.

김유진은 1993년에 부산에서 태어났다. 2013년부터 2018년까지 독일의 브라운슈바이크 조형예술대학교에서 공부했다. 비디오, 설치, 퍼포먼스 등 다양한 형식을 통하여 작품세계를 구현하고 있다.
Yu-Jin Kim is a South Korean artist who works primarily in video and Installation. She studied fine art (Film and Video) in HBK Braunschweig in the class of Prof. Candice Breitz and  Prof. Corinna Schnitt.
