<손>은 시네포엠이 1966년에 제작했던 두 번째 영화이자 마지막 영화이다. 시네포엠은 유현목이 전위적 단편영화 제작을 목표로 32명의 회원과 함께 설립했던 동인이다. <손>의 연출은 유현목, 대본은 최일수, 촬영은 김기국, 녹음은 박익순이 맡았다. 35mm 흑백 영화로 상영길이는 50초이다. 당시로서는 이례적으로 짧은 상영길이는 이 작품이 <인간과 그 세계>를 주제로 열렸던 1967년 몬트리올 국제박람회에 출품할 목적으로 제작되었기 때문이다. 몬트리올 국제박람회는 50초 길이의 작품들로 구성된 경쟁 프로그램을 기획하였고 전 세계를 대상으로 작품을 공모하였다. 경쟁에서 수상한 작품들은 영화관에서 상영될 뿐만 아니라 텔레비전을 통해서 방영될 예정이었다. 이 경쟁 프로그램에는 37개국에서 870편의 작품이 출품되었고, 이 중에서 <손>을 포함하여 총 94편이 선정되어 몬트리올 국제영화제 개막식에서 상영되었다. 이 경쟁의 심사위원들은 작품의 전반적인 경향이 반전 메시지를 담았고 인류를 부정적으로 묘사하지만 동시에 인류에 대한 애정을 놓치지 않는 작품들이 많았다고 평가했다. <손> 역시 이러한 평가에 부합한다. <손>은 인간의 손은 치명적인 전쟁 무기를 만들기도 하고 문명을 창조하기도 한다는 것을 내용으로 한다. 대본을 쓴 최일수는 문학비평가이자 세 편의 시네포엠을 창작한 작가이기도 하다. 최일수는 시네포엠에 관한 이론을 구축하기도 했는데, 이에 따르면 <손>의 대본은 일종의 논리시(logopoeia)로 의도되었으며, 시의 단어들로 연상될 수 있는 이미지가 몽타주된 방식으로 작품이 구성되었다. 한편 유현목은 영상주의라는 용어로 <손>을 설명했는데, 영상주의는 포토제니를 번안한 것이다. <손>에서 네거티브로 반전된 이미지는 유현목이 당시에 이해하고 있던 포토제니 개념을 보여준다. <손>은 1920, 30년대 프랑스 인상주의와 초현실주의 영화의 영향이 1960년대 한국영화에서 발현된 양상을 보여준다.

Hand is the second and last film produced by Cinepoem in 1966. Cinepoem is a film group founded by Yu Hyun-mok with the aim of producing avant-garde short films. Hand was directed by Yu, written by Choi Il-soo, shot by Kim Gi-Guk, and recorded by Park Ik-sun. It’s format is 35mm and B&W with a length of 50 seconds. The exceptionally short length of the film was set for submitting to the International and Universal Exposition in Montreal under the theme “Man and His World(Concours terre de hommes).” It organized a competition program for 50 seconds long films and called for works from all over the world. Winning works were supposed to screen in theaters as well on television. In the competition, 870 works from 37 countries were presented and 94 films were selected including Hand for screening at the opening of the Montreal International Film Festival. The judges of the competition evaluated that the overall tendency was a message of opposition of war and negative description about human, but there were many works that did not miss affection for humanity. Hand also meets the evaluation.

Hand describes that the human hand creates deadly war weapons as well culture. Choi Il-soo, who wrote the script, is also a literary critic and author of three cinepoem works. Choi also established a theory about cinepoem. According to his theory, the script of Hand was intended as a kind of logopoeia and the work was composed of images which could be reminiscent of poetic words. On the other hand, Yu Hyun-mok explains Hand in terms of ‘Yeongsangjueui’, a translated word of photogenie. The negative film image of Hand shows Yu’s understanding of photogenie at the time. Hand is a case to illustrate how the influence of French impressionist and surrealist films was appeared in Korean films in the 1960s.
