러시아 콜롬나의 아티스트 레지던시 프로그램 아트코뮤날카에 참여하는 동안 모은 텍스트와 이미지로 구성되어 있다. 콜롬나에서 촬영한 이미지가 시각적 요소로 구성되고 영어와 러시아어로 이루어진 텍스트가 화면에 나타나는데, 이는 구글 번역기를 통해 대화를 나눈 기록을 단편적으로 재구성한 것이다. 여기서 러시아어-영어, 영어-러시아어의 번역은 서로의 언어를 모르는 채, 언어의 불완전함을 인식한 상태에서 소통을 위한 대화자 간의 노력을 나타낸다. 조각난 대화는 추상적이기도 하고 이야기의 단면을 드러내기도 한다. 오디오 트랙은 작가가 베네딕트 예로페예프의 "모스크바발 페투슈키행 열차 (Москва - Петушки)"를 손으로 베끼어 쓰는, 펜이 종이 위를 달리는 소리로 구성되어 있다. 작품을 통해 말하기와 쓰기의 신체적인, 그리고 유한적인 성격에 대해, 번역과 기록의 방식에 대해 생각해보고자 했다. 이 프로젝트는 아트코뮤날카의 지원을 받아 제작되었다.

ephemeras is a video created during the artist's stay at Artkommunalka, an artist residency program in Kolomna, Russia. The video features various images of Kolomna along with fragments of texts in English and Russian. The Russian-English and English-Russian texts are a record of translations done in Google Translate during actual conversations. They represent the speakers' awareness of the possible failure of language as well as their mutual efforts for communication. The audio is the artist writing (copying) the text of Moscow-Petushki by Venedikt Yerofeyev by hand, making reference to the history and the culture of the city, Kolomna, and it also addresses both the physicality and ephemerality of the act of speaking and writing.

Bio
이수진은 텍스트, 영상, 퍼포먼스를 사용하여 "언어의 공간"을 다룬다. 이 공간은 규정이 쉽지 않고 복합적이며, 제한적이면서도 포괄적이고 때로는 모순적이다. 작가는 Maryland Institute College of Art에서 행복하게 미술 작업을 했고 New York University에서는 퍼포먼스를 만났다. 그 후 AIM at the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Millay Colony for the Arts, Blue Mountain Center, I-Park, Zarya Center for Contemporary Art, Artkommunalka와 같은 레지던시 프로그램의 지원을 받으며 작업을 해왔다.
Sujin Lee works with text, video, and performance. In her work, she investigates, contemplates, and performs the "language space" around her—which is elusive, complex, limited, expansive, and sometimes contradictory. Lee had great joy in making art at Maryland Institute College of Art and encountered performance studies at New York University. She received generous support from artist residencies including AIM at the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Millay Colony for the Arts, Blue Mountain Center, I-Park, Zarya Center for Contemporary Art, and Artkommunalka.
