Contrast of Yours는 감시시스템을 완전히 부정하거나 수긍할 수 없는 양가적인 현실에서, 대안은 무엇인지 고민하며 그 감시의 그물망으로부터 튕겨 나온 실제 인물들을 조명한다. 디지털 정보시대 속 개인은 가시성의 기준 아래 기록되고, 분석되며, 이미지로 재구성된다. 여기서 기계의 눈에 포착되거나 제대로 인식되지 못했던 그들은 단순히 비가시적인 존재가 아니라 애초부터 선별 대상에 포함되지 않은 외부의 표상일 것이다. 작업은 스크린 위에 전면적으로 드러나지 않은 그들을, 정확도를 향해 질주하는 기술의 치명적인 오류였을 그들을 통해 일반화된 데이터로 생산되지 않을 흐릿하고 미미한 이미지를 발굴해보고자 한다.

Contrast of Yours unfolds the stories of real people who were unable to be captured from the eyes of surveillance system. In our technological era, inevitably every individual is documented, analyzed, and restructured into images under the value of visibility. This inversely means when anyone is unrecognized by the machine’s eyes, she/he may not represents her/himself as ‘the invisible’ or ‘the unseen’, but rather ‘the marginal’, who was not filtered as a worthy data even in the first place. The work seeks to excavate a very blurred and alternative image from these protagonists(the fatal errors of this accelerating surveillance technology towards accuracy) which cannot be transformed into any generalized data.
