Description

The camera’s eye returns obsessively to the same places, a vertical perspective that imposes control, the possession of archaeological sites, stones lying for thousands years in the desert. The places it observes, however, are not deserted: we see, as if glimpsed from afar, the peasants working the land, themselves transformed into landscape. 

Something disturbs the stillness of the place: explosions on land and in the sea prepare the ground for new cities with new names, new forests. This landscape is transformed into a scenography of appropriation.

카메라의 눈은 같은 장소, 통제를 강요하는 수직적 시선, 고고학 유적지의 점유, 사막에 수천 년 동안 누워 있던 돌들을 강박적으로 비춘다. 그러나 그것이 관찰하는 장소는 황량하지 않다. 마치 멀리서 엿보는 것처럼, 우리는 땅에서 일하는 농민들이 풍경으로 변하는 모습을 본다.

무엇인가가 장소의 고요함을 어지럽힌다. 육지와 바다에서의 폭발은 새로운 이름과 숲을 가진 새로운 도시의 땅을 준비한다. 이 풍경은 전유의 무대로 변형된다.

Bio

Kamal Aljafari is an acclaimed Palestinian artist, film director and producer. In his films, he combines fiction, non-fiction, and art to portray everyday life in Palestine in a subtle manner. His work has been shown at various international film festivals and in galleries all over the world such as the Berlinale, Locarno, Viennale and Rotterdam. and museums such as the MoMA and Tate Modern. He was a featured artist at the Robert Flaherty Film Seminar (NYC)  and was a Fellow at the Radcliffe-Harvard Film Study Center. In 2021 he was jury member for Leopard of tomorrow section of 74th Locarno Film Festival, and jury member for Burning Lights Competition of Visions du Réel, Nyon. 

카말 알자파리는 팔레스타인 예술가, 영화 감독 및 프로듀서이다. 그는 그의 작품에서 픽션, 논픽션, 예술을 결합하여 팔레스타인의 일상을 섬세하고 미묘한 방식으로 묘사한다. 그의 작품은 베를린, 로카르노, 비엔나, 로테르담과 같은 전 세계 다양한 국제 영화제와 MoMA 및 Tate Modern과 같은 미술관에서  상영되었다. 그는 로버트 플래허티 영화 세미나(Robert Flaherty Film Seminar, NYC)의 초청 아티스트였으며 래드클리프-하버드 영화 연구 센터(Radcliffe-Harvard Film Study Center)의 펠로우였다. 2021년에는 제74회 로카르노 영화제의 레오파드(Leopard of tomorrow) 부문 심사위원, 니옹 비젼 뒤 릴의 버닝 라이트 부문 심사위원으로 활동했다.
