Description

My first visit to England after a gap of two years, it's as if I’m discovering each subject for the first time. Objects picked up one by one. Every form seems to contain its dissolution, a premonition of loss. Holding on to the edge of a cloud, a hungry ghost throws its wishes to the sea.

두 해 만에 영국을 처음 방문한 나는 마치 모든 것을 처음 발견하는 것 같다. 물건들을 하나씩 집어든다. 모든 형태에는 해체, 상실의 예감이 담겨 있는 듯하다. 구름 가장자리를 붙잡고 있는 배고픈 유령은 바다로 소원을 던진다.

Bio

James Edmonds is a filmmaker and artist from the UK, currently living in Berlin. His work is driven by personal observations of his immediate surroundings and a poetic approach to the everyday that is both formalistic and lyrical. The varying qualities of light, our subjective experience of time, space and memory are often thematically present in the visual resonance of his films and paintings.

His films have been shown at various international festivals including Toronto International Film Festival, New York Film Festival, Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, Museum of the Moving Image, Open City London, Ann Arbor Film Festival, Curtas Vila do Conde, FICUNAM - Umbrales, Mexico City, and EXiS Seoul. Solo presentations have taken place at (S8) A Coruña, Experimental Filmtage Frankfurt, Cinéma Parenthèse Brussels, Nocturnal Reflections Milan and Ausland Berlin. 

제임스 에드먼즈는 영국 출신의 영화 감독이자 예술가로, 현재 베를린에서 거주 중이다. 그의 작업은 주변 환경에 대한 개인적 관찰과 일상에 대한 서정적 접근으로 이루어져 있다. 빛의 다양한 특성, 시간의 주관적인 경험, 공간 및 기억에 대한 경험은 그의 영화와 회화에서 자주 다뤄지는 주제다.

그의 영화들은 토론토 국제 영화제, 뉴욕 영화제, 오버하우젠, 무빙이미지 뮤지엄(뉴욕), 오픈 시티 다큐 페스티벌, 앤 아버 영화제, 빌다 도 콘데 영화제, 피쿠남 국제영화제, 그리고 EXiS를 포함한 다양한 국제 영화제에서 상영되었다. 개인전은 코루냐 프랑크푸르트 실험 영화제, 시네마 파렌테즈 브뤼셀, 나이트 리플렉션 밀란, 아우스란드 베를린에서 열렸다.
