Description

A female director from Japan is in Saigon, preparing to shoot a film, when her male lead suddenly leaves. She begins to rethink the meaning of the resonances and exchanges she has experienced in the city, leading her to perceive the images in front of her more clearly. Unexpected encounters and planned arrivals—these two almost contradictory concepts oscillate in her mind interchangeably. What she is feeling is not a remembrance of the past, but the future. The traces Saigon has left on her body form a sculpture without dimensions.

일본에서 온 여성 감독이 사이공에서 영화 촬영을 준비하던 중 주연 남성 배우가 갑자기 자리를 떴다. 그녀는 도시에서 경험한 공명과 교류의 의미를 다시 생각하기 시작하며 눈앞의 이미지를 더 선명하게 인식하게 된다. 예상치 못한 만남과 예정된 도착, 거의 모순에 가까운 이 두 개념이 그녀의 마음 속에서 번갈아 가며 진동합니다. 그녀가 느끼는 것은 과거의 기억이 아니라 미래다. 사이공이 그녀의 몸에 남긴 흔적은 차원이 없는 조각품을 이룬다.

Bio

Wang Chun

His practice is based on transformations between different creative languages (those of image, text, sound, and body), searching for the limits of language and seeking to measure the distance in the act of viewing. His work emphasizes the process of conscious perception, reflecting on the polarity of existence as it moves from one unbalanced system of coordinates to another, in which every gesture, every action, every landscape is a drama and also a film. Sappukei (2021) is his first short film.

Hikky Chen

She established the art collective Ghost Mountain Ghost Shovel in 2008. Their live performances bring together varied elements including improvisation, gymnastics, installation, historical reenactment, experimental sound, and more.Chen has studied dance and costume design, and through her practice reflects on the relationship between the body and the visual.
