<섬섬옥수> (2025)는 산업혁명 시기의 직업병 문제가 오늘날의 전자기술 산업에서도 유사한 방식으로 반복되고 있음을 살핀다. 혁신적인 기술 생산에는 대규모의 노동과 함께 수많은 물질이 투입되며, 그 과정에서 발생하는 유해 성분은 노동자들에게 다양한 신체적 손상과 질병을 초래한다. 그러나 이러한 문제는 종종 성별과 사회적 위치에 따라 묵인되거나 개인적인 문제로 치부되고는 한다.

영상은 여성적 질병이라고 여겨졌던 초기 ‘히스테리’ 신경증에 대한 의학적 오독과 은폐를 중심으로 섬유 산업에서의 릴링룸과 반도체 산업에서의 클린룸을 오가며 과거의 재해와 현재의 사건을 교차한다. 또한 다양한 역사적 자료와 함께 폭스콘의 노동자 쉬리즈와 뮤리엘 루카이저의 시, 그리고 원진레이온과 삼성 반도체공장 산업 재해 피해자(2017년 삼성전자 하청업체 메탄올 중독 피해자 김영신 씨 유엔 인권이사회 발언 등)의 발화와 낭독 퍼포먼스 등으로 구성된다. 각 시대의 최첨단 산업과 기술이 한편으로는 얼마나 모순적이고 취약한지를 질문하며, 오늘날의 기술 세계를 되돌아본다.

Body Alerts (2025) examines how occupational diseases of the Industrial Revolution continue to repeat themselves in today's electronics industry. Taking the medical misreading and concealment of early "hysterical" neurosis as its thread, the work moves between reeling rooms in the textile industry and cleanrooms in the semiconductor industry, weaving past disasters together with present incidents. In doing so, it probes the contradictions and vulnerabilities embedded in even the most advanced industries and technologies, prompting critical reflection on the world that technology has made.

기술 환경, 개인, 이미지 사이의 관계를 관찰하며, 그 속에서 발생하는 사회적 문제를 다룬다. 아트 허브 코펜하겐, 두산갤러리, 더 레퍼런스, 씨알 콜렉티브 등에서 개인전을 개최했으며, 전주국제영화제, DMZ국제다큐멘터리영화제, 서울국제실험영화제 등에 초청된 바 있다.

Eunhee Lee(b. 1990, South Korea) creates experimental and documentary films and videos that examine the relationship between the individual, image, and technology within a social context. In her work, technology is not merely a product of science but a complex assemblage shaped by political and economic interests. The practice of observing these phenomena is an ongoing attempt to understand our absurd world.
